First off, you should know I’m a middle school teacher. My husband and I announced my pregnancy on social media last Thursday. That night I became very sick and called out of work on Friday (I hated to because that was the day I was going to tell the kids). I found on on Saturday I had the flu, so I was out of work on Monday and I today as well. Well, this morning, I found out that all my students already knew about the pregnancy because a coworker told them. Someone who I am not friends with in social media. I fully expected news to travel to all the staff and maybe a student or two. But it blows my mind that someone who I didn’t even share the news with myself thought it was appropriate to tell my students before checking to see if I had. This is my first pregnancy, and I just can’t help but feel like she took away something that I won’t get to experience again for the first time.
