If you want an elective cesarean do you have to find a doctor that will do that or do most of them allow you to?

I’ve decided I want an elective and I’m wondering how it typically works, any moms here who chose elective cesarean???

I don’t know one single dr who will do one just because. I was in active labor for 4 days and my dr sill wouldn’t do it

I had an emergency and I’m praying to god I can get a vbac with this baby. Recovery from csections are terrible. Horrible. 
My doctor wouldn’t schedule and elective csection. Surgery must be for medical reasons only.

I have never heard of an elective C section. I can’t imagine your insurance would cover that without the appropriate diagnosis for medical Necessity I’m a nurse and we have some pretty strict rules about what we can bill to the insurance

Most insurance companies will not cover elective c-sections. Be careful, and check before hand.

Honestly I think it’s annoying that doctors don’t care at all about all the medical interventions they do with induction, but then a lot of them make it hard to choose an elective cesarean, I would call doctors until you find one that will do it!

Why do you want to have a c-section if it isn’t needed? It can cause more risk to you and could make other pregnancies higher risk. Just curious.

For your first or a repeat csection? For a first one you'd have a hard time finding a dr to do it for you by choice.
