How do you stop a nose bleed on a baby?

My baby of 1 year was standing by the couch he tripped and somehow hit his nose. I thought at first he just hit his face but when I picked him up his nose was bleeding. He has a runny nose so that doesn’t make it any easy cause blood will still come out even if I clean it. So I have just been wiping his nose with warm water + towel. That’s it.
It will stop and then it will continue to come again. His now asleep I haven’t seen blood at the moment.
But if it comes running down again how do I make it stop? Or what can I do ?

I second Ana’s comment(: My brother gets nosebleeds all the time and that always helps. Hope your little guy is okay!

Hopefully this is s one time thing.  Nose bleeds can be scary.
One of my kids gets bloody noses pretty frequently (usually if it is really hot or really cold outside).  We were told to do what the pic that was posted says and the dr said we can use saline drops to help prevent bleeds and we can use Afrin at the start of a bleed to constrict the blood vessels. 
That advice was for a 5 year old with frequent nose bleeds.  I wouldn’t start medicating for a single nose bleed...and I would run the Afrin recommendation by the ped before trying it on a one year old.

Apply pressure under the bridge of his nose, while he lays down on his back, apply pressure for approximately 1 minute then ask him to stay on his back for a couple more minutes
