Should I go for an elective c-section?

What are your experiences? I had a really bad first birth (5 day induction). Baby was distressed and stuck and I got taken to theatre for emergency section but begged not for a section after going through the pain and hours of pushing. In the end they managed to do an episiotomy and pull him out with forceps. He was stunned and floppy and wasn’t breathing and had to be taken to the resus trolley to clear his airways. I then ended up with a womb and wound infection and was in so much pain for weeks after the birth. It took me a month really to feel normal again. 
It was just such a traumatic birth and I’m starting to have nightmares about it frequently and worrying about the pain. The pitocin drip was just horrendous and I don’t think I could deal with that pain again. 
I’ve got an appointment with my consultant at 25 weeks to discuss the labour and have the option of an elective c-section. I know a c-section isn’t the easy way out and is major surgery and the recovery etc. But I don’t know what is best. I really don’t want to be induced again.
Edit: sorry I should have added on I was induced at 40+4 due to low amniotic fluid

With my first born my water broke I dialated I pushed 4 hours straight and ended up with a c section and I felt my recovery went great! I was up and walking within a few hours everyone’s experience is different family and friend kept telling me there horror stories with c sections and I was praying I didn’t get one but my experience was nothing compared to what they told me yes i felt some pain but nothing compared to what I was told! 
Go with whatever you feel is right for you and baby!

Why were you induced the first time? That can have a major impact on how your labor and birth goes and its the reason some doctors are against elective inductions. 
My water broke on its own with my first and my body never went into labor so i was induced. Thankfully it didnt take nearly as long (16h from water breaking and 12h from starting pitocin), what finally got me to dilate was getting the epidural to give my body a break from the pitocin contractions. 
My second labor was completely different. Water broke on its own and my son was born in 4.5h later. 
I think you should do what you feel most comfortable with but if it helps any, the second time around goes a lot easier than the first. I personally would never choose a csection over vaginal birth unless it was life or death. Definitely recommend that you try to avoid another induction, it might just be that your body doesn’t take well to being forced but a natural birth might go perfectly well.

So my first child I was induced due to low amniotic fluid the day after due date. 36 hours later, an episiotomy, NICU stay, I had my little boy. 3 years later I had my 2nd, also induced. From time they hooked me up and started to induce to delivery was 3 1/2 hours and only 3 pushes no episiotomy. 🤷🏻‍♀️ each baby is different.

I’ve had 2 c sections and will not attempt a vbac and will have a third and final section. I labored for 17 hours with my first unmediated with the help of two Doula’s after my water broke only to find out my baby never dropped far down enough for me to be able to push him out due to his size of 9lbs 13oz. I ended up with a csection. It was upsetting but I was just happy to have had a healthy baby. I had an abscess develop on my incision weeks after delivering and has to have wound care for months after. It was not the most pleasant but I survived. My second pregnancy I was given an option to have a vaginal  birth but opted for a csection to avoid the same experience of laboring without achieving vaginal delivery. I had a great recovery, much easier the second time around. I am again opting for a final csection because for me it’s been easier and predictable. I am an RN and I know that vaginal births are best, but not everyone is able to deliver that way. Do not feel bad about choosing a csection. You have to do what is best for you and your baby.
