Do you live in “a bad neighbourhood “

I live in what’s considered “a bad neighbourhood “ whenever people ask where I live I will say “example “ and they go “oh” . I have lived here a year and a half and never had issues it’s actually a nice little community I just had my neighbour who I have never met come to my door at 11:00 pm in -30 weather to tell me my lights were on in my car . I have lived in better neighbourhoods and no one would come and do that as well a different neighbour once again never met drove my husband to work when our car wouldn’t start . Anyone else live in “a bad neighbourhood “ with a stigma against it that actually isn’t bad at all ?

Bad things happen everywhere. I hate when I’m watching a crime now and I hear people say “something that like would never happen here, it’s a quiet and nice town.”
As if things can’t happen literally everywhere. Nobody is safe. One area might be “nicer” than another but things happen everywhere.

I live in a notoriously bad neighborhood. It's not nearly as bad as it was 10-20 years ago, but it's still known as a tough patch of town. The city has poured a lot of resources into revitalizing and upgrading it in recent years. 
I have, however, had 3 incidents in the last year here. 
On Christmas eve there was a high speed stolen car chase that ended in a loud crash in my neighbor's yard. The guy bailed out and ran through our hard with the cops in hot pursuit. He somehow slipped away and we spend Christmas eve with our doors locked, guns loaded, and about 15 cops combing the area. 
On Thanksgiving night I was 20 weeks pregnant and waiting in the car in the driveway with my 3 year old in the backseat. My fiance had ran inside the house to grab something. He had been gone maybe 30 seconds when a random man ran up, threw open the drivers side door and jumped in with the intention of stealing our car. I screamed like a wild banshee, ready to go full mama bear and rip his eyes out with my bare hands, and luckily scared him and he ran off. My fiance came out and chased him down the road, only to have to sprint back to the car when a group of 4 men started chasing him back. He barely made it back inside the car and we had to peel out to get away. It was a scary night. 
Lastly some drunken (or high maybe?) idiot was behind our house one night screaming for "Mike" to come fight him. There is no Mike here. My fiance kept trying to explain he had the wrong house but the guy kept insisting he could hear Mike in our garage. The conversation got heated and the guy kept threatening to come back and kill our family. 
So yeah, it can be scary. But our house is really nice and really cheap so... 🤷‍♀️

When I first moved into my own place, I told my friends where it was and all of them were so shocked, warning me it’s a rough place, it’s a really bad neighbourhood. 7 years I lived there with not one single problem.
Every one is really polite, some one is always saying hello when you walk, they always ask how the family are, and end up having a good chin wag for about half hour 😂 
Any parcels I knew was going to be delivered & I knew I wouldn’t be home I would ask one of the neighbours to take it in for me, and without a problem they would and when they seen my car outside ( I used to work long hours so didn’t want to bother them so late) they would come round giving me my parcel.
Obviously you get a few “bad eggs” no matter where you are, but even the well known “bad eggs” were always polite to me, I remember my daughter fell and I dropped everything and went to tend to her, and this “bad egg” person picked my bag & my daughters bag up and brought them over to us asking if we were ok, and if he needed to get any plasters from his house or phone any one for me 🤷🏼‍♀️
But I think once a place has got a bad reputation no matter how long ago it was it’s sticks for ages.

The people in my neighborhood are really weird. They all look terrifying but I still have yet to have problems with them. They all do mildly illegal things like burn on non burn days, blast music way past midnight, shoot off guns, and probably more I can't hear or smell from my house. But they have never directly influenced me so it's whatever. The cops only come around once in a blue moon so for the most part they just do what they want.

Ive been loving in the same neighborhood for 20+ years. They call if "4 corners". Years ago it was a crazy place with shootings, stabbings, fights, and gangs. The area now is way better and it has really changed but the name and reputation still stuck.

I have the opposite thing. I say where I live and people go “oh,” like, oh you must be loaded. It’s also verrrrrry white. We love it for the scenery, and the activities, but that other stuff drives us crazy.
