Due date??

Question

So this is probably a dumb question, but I'm a FTM and was wondering... some women will say "30 weeks, 6 more to go" or "one more month" when they really have 2... are most babies born at 36 weeks or do majority of women actually make it to 40 weeks?

No, most people have babies between 38 and 42 weeks.

My first made his grand appearance at 36 weeks exactly - my water broke at 35w5d! For the second I am getting progesterone shots weekly to ensure no pre term labor - hoping to make it full term! All my friends and co workers who have had babies made it to the due date plus or minus a few days!

The average for first time moms is 40weeks 5days and 40weeks for second time moms. Alot of people think their babies will come early because they start having changes in symptoms in the third trimester like increasing Braxton hicks, increasing pressure, dilation and generally feeling different. However, this is normal and doesn't necessarily indicate that baby is going to make an early arrival.

I think the women that say that already have scheduled inductions or c-sections for various reasons. My son came naturally at 38+6. Babies just come when they are ready.

Most are late my first came 41 weeks all my others have been induced 37-38 which is now classed as full term I have never been early on my own

Majority are born between 37/40 weeks then again some go past their due date. I've got four children and not one of them wanted to enter the world before or on their due date. All mine came at 6 days late, 8 days late 12 days late and 9 days late. Some babies like to keep roasting in the womb while others make a surprising appearance. And not forgetting every pregnancy is completely different just like every labour.

Some are born early on their own, some would be induced to be early but most wont induce you until 38 weeks. Allot go past 40 weeks. I have gone to 40 weeks with both mine 40 weeks/1day and 40 weeks/5days.
