Progesterone after spotting (8 weeks)

Anna

My doctor prescribed 100mg of progesterone for me to take daily until 10weeks because my progesterone levels are very low (6.2). They’ll check my levels again next Tuesday at my next ultrasound.

My issue is that after I saw her Tuesday and saw the heartbeat (which was low) I’ve been spotting more. And TMI, but there’s been brown spotting mixed with brown stringy stuff. It looks like the beginning of a miscarriage to me. I’ve also had that achy feeling in my lower back that preceded my previous miscarriage.

I told the nurse on the phone my symptoms today, after she told me my Hcg levels are rising and wanted to know if it was even worth the time to take the progesterone. She said I was probably spotting after the ultrasound because that’s normal. (Also I was in a building lobby and not able to describe everything for her in detail over the phone). Not sure I’m as optimistic as her.

What has been your experience with progesterone?

I think you would probably need a higher level of progesterone if your levels are 6 (for future reference) I’m on 400mg twice daily

Yeah. My doctor said to call her right away to get my progesterone and hormone levels checked the next time I get a positive pregnancy test. I’m just hoping that’ll happen again.

Hi, just wondering if progesterone helped you in this case?

I am not sure if you’ve had your appointment yet? I wanted to reassure you that I was red and brown bleeding for 3 weeks and my baby is doing great. I had some hemorrhages outside of my uterus and it seemed to never stop so I was constantly worrying. The “old blood” can take a long time to make its way out of the vagina so by the time it does it’s brown, stringy, etc. The doctor said the only time to really worry is heavy RED blood that requires constant pad changes, along with major cramping and pain would indicate miscarriage. So I hope you can rest assured your brown blood is probably okay ❤️.

Unfortunately I started miscarrying Saturday. We’ll try again and hopefully 3rd time will be the charm 🙂

This may or may not be helpful/related. But I have been having bad cramping for 3 months (I gave birth 18 months ago I am not currently pregnant ). I thought the mini pill would help (it’s basically just progesterone). Anyway it made me bleed a lot and my cramps got Worse. So it could be the progesterone that’s causing spotting. But maybe it’s just a side effect and not serious I don’t know but all I know is that progesterone intake causes me bleeding and bad cramps.

Unfortunately it wasn’t the progesterone in my case. I’ll ask about trying it out next time around.

Ve had two chemicals. This is my 6th pregnancy. 4th child. After the two chemicals I learned my progesterone was low. I have been taking it since 3dpo. I'm 4w4d now. Today cramping seems worse. It's dull now. But was kind of yucky. Not horrible, but just didn't stop like the normal ones do in early pregnancy. So I'm freaking the hell out. Driving myself crazy. Probably like you are. I don't know if this app helps or makes my anxiety worse. Reading all that can go wrong.

Are you cramping?

I’ve still got a lot of brown discharge, so I am still suspecting miscarriage. I can’t wait until Tuesday where I can just get an definitive answer.

I’ve already taken it and plan to. It can’t hurt right? 😁 I was just curious if anyone had any similar symptoms and what their results were.
