Bassinet or crib??

Question

So our nursery is pretty much all set up crib dressers etc. Our bedroom is on the other side of the nursery so the crib is literally 10ft away. Everyone is telling me our baby needs to sleep in our room right beside us in a bassinet for the first 6 months. I’m really torn on what to do, parts of me think I need a bassinet and parts of me think it’s a waste of money! Would love some of your opinions ladies!!

We used a co-sleeper next to the bed because I breastfed. If I hadn’t, I’m sure the crib would have been fine.

Do why you feel best, but for SIDS prevention it’s recommended baby sleep in the room with you.

If you want to start your baby in the crib, do it. People will tell you all kinds of things you “should” do. Just do what works for you and your family

We started with the crib, but she hated it. So we had her in the bassinet for 5 months and then moved her to the crib. Some babies hate cribs as they feel to big after the cozy womb.  I say try the crib first because you may not need to buy the bassinet.

We will be using a bassinet at night until he outgrows it, but will do naps in his crib in his room so the transition to crib for night is easier when it happens.

My mom got us a Halo to use. If she hadn't bought that I probably would have either started off with the baby in the crib. I think it's whatever works best for you

We're not getting a bassinet, but getting a pack and play with a bassinet height to be in our room to start. We figure we'll need it for traveling so it would be a better use of our money. The nursery has a crib for when we transition him into there after a few months.

We had this dilemma too, we live in a 2 bedroom condo where the babys room is literally 10 steps down the hall. We decided to just go with the crib from the beginning since it's so close and well have the monitor. We do have a spare bed in his room as well so if I get really worried I can sleep in there with him

I’m only using a bassinet because I’m limited on space, I’ll be moving before baby is big enough for a crib. Not only that it was a hand me down so it was free.
