Okay so some backstory:

I had been with my job for four years in an amazingly difficult position. No shit. I was working directly (by myself - only person on staff who had my job) with families of terminally ill children as a support and social worker. Then two weeks after I told my boss and HR I was pregnant, I got laid off with a third of the company. When I asked my supervisor WHY I had been let go she said “well, your position wasn’t making us any money.”
