inducing for big baby?

my son has always been measuring really large (28week growth scan estimating 4 lbs, 32week estimating 6lbs) now i have my 36 week scan in 1 & 1/2 weeks & am nervous he is going to be atleast 8lbs. what are the chances that i will be able to talk my OB into inducing at atleast 37 weeks for his high weight? if so, any tips on how to try to convince them? i really really dont want a csection unless it is medically necessary (i.e. he was in distress for whatever reason). they told me at my last appt. its automatic csection for one of the following reasons: measures on ultrasound atleast 10lb10oz, if they or myself thinks he will get stuck, or if im nervous to push him out.

I’m being induced at 39 weeks for a large baby. I did request but rather he told me it was the best odds of delivering vaginally. He also said that legally he can not induce early than 39 weeks just because he is big.

My first baby was measuring four weeks ahead and my doctor scheduled an induction at 39 weeks (the earliest they are allowed to do it) due to her supposed size. Very very luckily, she came on her own at 38 weeks and was born 9lbs 13oz. I delivered her vaginally and had second degree tearing. She did have shoulder dystocia, but she and I were both completely fine.
I asked my doctor about an even earlier induction this time around if we thought baby was going to be big too to help prevent a csection and another shoulder dystocia. If it’s a hospital in the U.S that is trustworthy, they will not legally induce you any earlier than 39 weeks for non-medical reasons, and big baby doesn’t  count as a medical reason.
You would be amazed at what your body can handle though. I’m by no means a big person and I was able to get an almost 10 lb baby out. I am so grateful I got an epidural though because that allowed me to rest while I was laboring. When it came time to push, I had to push for an hour and 15 minutes and was falling asleep from exhaustion between pushes. No idea what I would’ve done if I had been tired from the previous 10 hours of labor.

My son is measuring 7 1/2 lbs at 36 weeks. My doctor said they will offer me induction at 39 weeks if my cervix is favorable at that time if I want. They won’t do anything before that because measurements can be off.

I just recently had a friend who was told her baby was big (going to be 10lbs) and she went full term healthily and he was only 7lbs and ended up doing a c section because his heart rate kept dropping. With my daughter they never did growth scans and always commented on how tiny I was carrying and she was born vaginally with no complications at 9.3lbs. After she was born and weighed everyone was so shocked that I was carrying such a big baby lol, point is you never really know what is going to happen so try not to get to set on getting what you might want.

They may do at 39 weeks but to be honest people have big babies all the time. People give birth to babies 12pounds vaginally and live to tell the tale. It’s been happening for thousands of years xx

My second was 9 pounds when she was born and it was actually a lot easier getting her out than my first born. I don’t think you’ll be able to talk them into inducing that early but they might a week early. They are trying to avoid inducing me as long as they can and I have gd so definitely have a big baby plus his placenta is starting to age already. So i know he will be here before March but they are definitely trying to avoid it if they can.
