When should I test?

Hi all! I’m TTC and this month we were active during my peak dates. My cycle started January 18th, not sure on when exactly I ovulated. We have such a good feeling and are excited to test! When would be the earliest I can test and receive a close to accurate answer?? We want to avoid throwing money away on tests. Help!

If you don’t know exactly when you ovulated, wait until you’re a week late for your period to test in case you ovulated later than expected.

Hi! Also in the TTW and researching this topic a bunch lol! I’ve read that some tests can detect HCG levels as early as 10 days past ovulation, but most things I’ve read basically say wait until you’re supposed to start your period... but I will probably test a day or two early since my cycle length is sometimes shorter. Probably not the answer you’re looking for but hope this helps!

Keep in mind the even though new tests can detect hcg even earlier, 20% of pregnancies end in a chemical (meaning that the embryo doesn’t implant and exits like a normal period). These chemical pregnancies are pretty common and not necessarily a sign that anything is wrong with your fertility. 
So you can start testing pretty early, but you can’t be confident that you won’t have a chemical pregnancy until after your missed period. 
That’s why I choose to wait (as hard as it is) so that I won’t get my hopes up and be even more disappointed and sad if af shows up.
