Cartilage Help

Hi so i got my cartilage pierced in November and waited past the time to change it out. Well i went and spent $50 on cartilage piercings and when i went too change it they weren’t like long enough to go through bc of a bump on the back so i just put a normal earring in ( yes i did clean it first) and it’s been like sensitive to the touch and when i went to go clean around it there was a yellowish slime?! what is this?!! pls help.

Do i need to back to the place that pierced it?
