Are babies born to unwed mothers allowed to be dedicated to The Lord?

I am a first time, single, mother to be. I am not and have not been married to my baby's father and do not intend to. I still want to do right by this child and want to dedicate his or her raising to The Lord. I attend a southern baptist church and my mom told me they would not dedicate my baby because I am not married. Is this part of the thesis for the southern baptist faith? Is it church specific? Feel free to comment, but please. I am looking for a Christian's point of view. So if there are hateful comments they will be reported.
