I am 39wk + 3 days pregnant and wanting to drive 1hr 45 minutes away to go to a fun store... is that too far? (Read description)

I am 39 wks + 3 days & OB says I will go into labor any day... I am just so sick of being cooped up in the house! I’ve been wanting to go with my hubby to IKEA to get some last minute things for the nursery. He thinks it’s a bad idea because we would be 1hr 45 mins from the hospital... I am feeling risky mainly because I just really want to go & keep busy 😂 I just keep thinking “I’ve been waiting this long, what are the odds I would go into labor for the few hours we will be gone? And even if I go into labor, this is my first delivery & it’s probably gonna take some time anyways, right?” Idk...what would you ladies do?

Go for it! Even if you do go into labor, the 1.5hr drive you’ll still likely not be close to birth! I was 2hrs away from home when I went into labor, made it to the hospital and she was born 4 hours later

I would go for it. Honestly the chance of being early for a ftm is slim. Plus you’ll have everything you need for baby when you get back. If by a miracle you start contracting you can always head home but ftm labor usually takes 24 hours

I would say yes usually except all that walking through ikea could lead to labour haha.... you could have your baby on an ikea bed ☺️ haha sorry bad joke🥴

As long as you go with your husband it should be fine. I would go but I don't like sitting that long.

A friend of mine did something similar and went into labor, only she was 36 weeks. She ended up delivering at another hospital cause she couldn’t make it back. It’s completely up to you though! Everyone is different.

Even if you go into labor, you don’t go in to the birth center/hospital right away. You wait until contractions are closer together, which could take several hours. As long as you don’t mind potentially being in the car with contractions for almost two hours, I’d say go for it.

I say go.for it! At 38 weeks my doc said any day now, but i stayed pregnant until 42 weeks. You never know when you will go into labor,  make sure your hospital bag and car seat are in the car just in case, but HAVE FUN and relax! Even if that means a 1hr47min drive

Don't risk it.. My first labor was only 4 hours long, and the one time you go out feeling risky is the time it will actually happen.

Just for me, when i hit 36w, I do not travel more than 30 min from where my hospital is. I don't travel alone unless it's an emergency. I don't travel during heavy traffic or at night unless an emergency.
So I would not risk it that far along. If something was to happen, im assuming you are already registered at your hospital. So they have records and everything they need. If you end up at another hospital they aren't as prepared to take you if something goes wrong.
