How did you find out?

Hey! I was wondering what symptoms you all experienced prior to diagnosis of PCOS? I will be going to the doctor soon for evaluation. What finally made you think that something was going on?

For 8 years, my only visible symptom was the hirsutism. Starting at age 16, I was able to grow a beard and develop a "happy trail" (the line of hair that's under the belly button). I also had to be more vigilant about washing my face and pillowcases; otherwise, my cheeks would break out in bad facial acne. My periods appeared like clockwork, so I was even more confused about why my body wanted to behave as if it belonged to a teenage boy instead.

Then I finally got my diagnosis at age 24, and I went through all the emotions: joy at getting a diagnosis; anger at having had to wait for so long; sadness at being stuck with what's been called "the thief of womanhood"; fear of the risks of both diabetes and fertility problems; and disgust at the public library often being my only reliable source for information. I'm much more informed now, and I have an aunt who occasionally asks about how I'm doing, but I still can't believe that people don't seem to know more about it.

Just got diagnosed with it! I havent had my period in 2 months so thought to go check it out, still learning thing about but have started birth control to start getting my hormones balanced out again! The only symptom I had was acne amd weight gain and missed period

Body hair got out of control and certain positions hurt. I felt pain in my right ovary during those positions. Had an ultrasound done and BOOM that's the ovary with all the cysts.
