Anyone have positive screening for spina bifida?

Just got a call from my OBGYN’s office that my maternal serum screening cake back positive for spina bifida. And I need to have further testing done, has anyone else done this. My appointment isn’t until March 1, so now I’m going to go crazy. 18 weeks 3 days.

Omg I had this with my first. It was so so stressful. My NT scan/bloods at 12w came back with a positive flag for SB. I was sent for a level 2 anatomy scan at 18w,5d at the hospital. The result came back negative but the waiting between the two tests was awful!! 
I’m sorry you’re dealing with that. Hopefully you also come back with a negative scan in a few weeks.

I had a negative blood test for Spina Bifida and at 20 week anatomy scan found out our little boy had the worst form of Spina Bifida. We had no family history of Spina Bifida and I took folic acid . Good luck at the scan, let me know if it’s positive and u want to talk.

Try not to freak out. Even if your baby does have Spina bifida, there's different severities. My dad had a type that went unnoticed until he was in his 30s. He's fine, he pulls 16+ hour days working as a desiel mechanic and working at a farm. My boyfriend had a more severe case and was able to get his spine fused. He's a CNA, First Responder and Firefighter. Just breathe. The tests CAN come back positive even if the baby ends up fine. I'm high risk for Spina bifida because of my boyfriend, and my doctor told me that the tests are never 100%. I will be praying for you and your little one. ❤️❤️

Dont freak out..  there is different levels of it if it happens... I have a family member (by marriage) and she is perfectly fine

Try it to think the worst. These tests aren’t always accurate either. I don’t think I was tested for spins bifida just down syndrome. You will love your baby no matter what though.

I got a positive as well during my quad screen for spina bifida. My ob told my I barely hit outside of the normal range by a smudge. And said she wasn’t worried about it, because it’s apparently a pretty rare condition. There are false positives all the time too. She’s been an ob for over 20 years, and only had one case that actually confirmed spina bifida during a level II  ultrasound, after a positive quad screen. I’ve had multiple level II ultrasounds since that positive screen, and there have been zero signs of spina bifida in my babygirl. I was planning on doing an amniocentesis if they caught something in the scans, but I have no reason to now. Sending you good thoughts. 💛
