My Birth Story!
So throughout my whole pregnancy I read birth stories in this app every other day trying to mentally prepare myself for any situation being I am a first time mom.
I had just gotten off of an 8 hour shift waitressing/bartending and I was starving so I went home and picked my boyfriend up and we went to get Whataburger. We ordered the food and as he was pulling up to the window to pay, I felt a HUGE gush of liquid come out of me & I instantly knew it was my waters rupturing because it literally didn’t stop coming out for 45+ minutes. My boyfriend was very calm and even tried to leave the drive thru to go home and pack our bags and I told him he better turn his ass around and go back for the food because I knew I wouldn’t be able to eat after we got to the hospital.
Anyway, fast forward we get to the hospital around 1:45-2am and I can barely feel my contractions, but they’re there. I get admitted and get a room finally and they check me at 3:30 and I’m only dilated to a 1. They gave me pitocin to induce my labor, so I decided to labor naturally until I couldn’t possibly do it anymore. So around 7:30 they come in and put my epidural in and the numbing they gave me didn’t work and I felt the whole thing, and let me tell y’all it’s not fun. After I got the epidural I couldn’t feel a damn thing and it was amazing. I managed to nap until around 10:30 and the nurse came and checked me and I was dilated to a 9 and 90% effaced. So she put me on the peanut ball and I labored like that. Finally at 1:00 it was time to push, and I pushed for about 45 minutes and then it was decided I was having an emergency c-section because every time I pushed and baby descended into the birth canal, we lost his heart beat. Things got pretty chaotic after that, they pumped a ton more drugs into me and I couldn’t feel a thing or even comprehend what was happening. It was a really really scary experience but my healthy beautiful baby boy was born on 2/18/19 at 1:53pm and weighed 7lb 6 oz at 38 weeks 1 day.
I was half expecting him to look like a chewed up sea monkey but he came out smiling and posing for pictures 😂😭
