Does anyone have experience with moving away from a child’s father and advice for how to go about it? There is no formal custody agreement as of right now.

A little backstory if that helps.

also disclaimer if you are here to yell at me for taking my son away from his father please try to remember that I’m trying to do what’s best for both of us & we aren’t safe here.

I have a 1 year old and a very unstable boyfriend.

He is my child’s father but is really angry & violent & all around just unhealthy for my son and I to be around.

He has gotten physical with me twice but I never reported it. It is really hard right now because he moved us 2 hours away from family for work and I’m a stay at home mom stuck in the house all day (he won’t let me drive).

I’m a little worried that he could say he is financially supporting us so he should get our son since we live in his apartment but at the same time his mom has been paying our bills because he keeps losing his jobs & he has asked me to sell nudes so I can pay for our groceries & gas & expenses for my son. (any money he gets somehow disappears before we see any of it)

I have gone back to my parents a few times but always come back when he asks me to. When I go there he doesn’t help financially or come see his son.

I intend on selling my car (it is broken down) and then going back to my parents so I can save up to move within state, but about 9 hours away.

He has never been alone with or even fed/put our child to bed and when he cries he just ignores him so I am really scared to let him have any custody beyond visitation rights.

Can I do this or will the courts get involved and want me to stay/give him custody?
