Overbearing mother in law?

I gave birth 2 weeks ago and just found out that my mother in law had asked my nurse for a copy of my daughters birth certificate while out in the hallway. She keeps telling me to get 3 copies of the birth certificate and I’m just curious. Is there any reason she would even need a copy of my child’s birth certificate or is she just over stepping?

I have to go to town hall to get my sons birth certificate. The temporary is only 1 copy. But like pp said it depends on where you live. I’d definitely be asking her why she thinks she needs one

shes overstepping. in my opinion anything done and asked without your knowledge or permission or purposefully gone around you to achieve is overstepping. I'd be furious. she can make suggestions but trying to do it for you or behind your back is just wrong. even if her intentions are to help you, it could be done differently in a proper and respectful manner.

No not unless you want to have a back up copy buuuut I find it wierd she’s asking and secondly  they could get in trouble for trying to give her any info like this 🤷🏻‍♀️. 
But in the USA youneither have to have it mailed to you or you have to go to vital statistics to get even the original copy
