DTaP while pregnant?

Hello all,
This is not a vaccinate vs do not vaccinate debate so please do not start that conversation....
I was just wondering thoughts on the DTaP vaccine/shot while pregnant. I am a little worried because this is a new thing and they just started vaccinating pregnant woman in hopes that the antibodies will get to the baby before they are born. I am unsure of the research behind this and if there is any? Would anyone like to enlighten me and nicely let me know either way because I am still unsure if I want this shot while being pregnant.

P.s. my doctor told me it was new to give to mother during pregnancy at least where I live. It is “newer” is what I am meaning to say. As in not until recent years.

Get it. Whooping cough can kill babies and even as an adult it is serious. My mom got whopping cough at 48 and was sick for 3 months.

This isn't the place to ask honestly. You're not going to get an educated answer, just opinions. I do know that no safety studies have been done on vaccinating while pregnant & no benefit to the baby has been proven. I also know many expectant Mothers who have lost their baby within 24 hours of receiving the Flu & Tdap. One Mother had an autopsy done of her stillborn & he suffered a stroke in utero within 12 hours of her receiving the shot. I personally would not risk it. My advice to you is to not listen to anyone on this app including me but to do your own extensive research on it. Your doctor has only been told to reccomend it as well. They aren't the one to ask either. I can give you sources if you would like a starting point but please look into this more before deciding. I personally do not get any shots while pregnant. I don’t think they’ve been at it long enough to declare if there are any negative effects to the fetus. 
It certainly doesn’t give you any reason to be less careful with visitors washing hands and not bring sick when they see your newborn.
If you want to get the dtap I would recommend them giving it in the hospital after you’ve delivered and just getting it for your newborn at their 8 week check up per usual.

So in the UK the National Health Service recommends and pays for pregnant women to get this shot. Seeing as it’s a Public Health Service and often will not pay for treatments if there is no evidence basis for it/ public health gain from

Talk to your doctor. Be informed. DTaP is a dead virus which means nothing live is being entered into the blood stream.
Just remember if you get it after birth it won’t take effect for two weeks. You are putting bub at risk if there is an outbreak.

Hhmmm I don’t think it’s new. I had it two years ago with first baby and my sister had it even longer ago with hers. But yes, absolutely. Whooping cough can kill babies. Protect your little one ❤️

I would do what your doctor suggests. I’m not sure I’m due for another one yet, but they typically don’t do anything to pregnant women if they’re worried about it causing problems for them or the baby.

Please google ‘gold coast mother whooping cough’ (if I link here you can’t click on it) to read an article and watch a video from a mother who contracted whooping cough late in pregnancy and passed it on to her newborn.

I got one and I would definitely recommend it. Diphtheria and whooping cough can be fatal for babies, and it’s not worth that risk to not do it

I got mine last week at 34 weeks, whooping cough can be incredible dangerous for newborns and they can’t be vaccinated for it for a while. Getting the shot while pregnant passes the immunity on to try to protect them but we’re also having anyone who will care for our little girl when she’s super young get it too.
