All free and clear is great for baby. Dreft has a lot of added fragrances to make them smell more like "baby". 
Wash everything first. Lots of hands have touched the clothes in stores and they have sat in warehouses with who knows what crawling on them.

I’ve heard to wash clothes in increments that way if baby ends up allergic to the detergent you pick you don’t have to wash EVERY thing again

Companies put chemicals on clothes before you buy them.   Like flame retardants.   They can smell.   There is a show on netflix called stink.   Very interesting to watch.

Yes!! I've bought a few things new and received many hand me downs and washed them all, even the toys. I have the layette arranged in tubs by size so it's not getting dusty before his arrival. I haven't finished getting everything baby needs yet. If I end up having a baby shower I may hold off on washing those clothing gifts to see if I need to exchange them for different sizes. Otherwise I say to wash it all!!
