breast pump recommendations

which ones have you guys used? which ones did you hate? which ones did you love?

my insurance will cover a pump but my problem is picking which one.

i’m most likely NOT going to go with a medela even though i’ve heard wonderful reviews about it. some youtube videos i watched say the pump wasn’t strong enough for them, or didn’t like the fact that it was an open system.

I am liking the spectra s1 and s2, and the lansinoh smart pump is one i keep coming back to too.

i’m a FTM and have never breastfed before lol, i have no idea how it’ll go. or if it will end up working for baby and i at all.

i’m most likely going to go through aeroflow, but would love opinions on the breast pumps that have and haven’t worked for you!

thanks ☺️

I have the Medela Sonata. It was completely free through our insurance. I LOVE it! 👌🏾 I also have the Willow, which we paid for out of pocket. It is great, but the Sonata is so much better imo. It was hard for me to choose a pump as well. I was eligible for 12 through my insurance. My final choices were the Sonata, Spectra S1, and Spectra S2. I eventually chose the Medela Sonata.👍🏾

Love my Medela pump in style advance. I had the medela freestyle and hated it due to the suction but the pump in style works great. I actually have 2 of them- one I keep home and one I use for travel

I kept going back and forth between which pump I wanted my insurance to cover as well (Lansinoh vs Spectra S1). Because the Lansinoh is an affordable pump via retail, I decided to go with the Spectra. If it doesn’t work out, then I’ll get myself the Lansinoh out of pocket and it won’t be too bad. I went through Acelleron because I found the price on Aeroflow to be more expensive as well. I still have to pay $80 out of pocket for what they consider an “upgrade”, but Aeroflow wanted something around $120.

I have the Spectra S1 and it worked great. It’s practically silent, very good suction, and not painful at all. I used an Ameda pump in the hospital and it was terrible because it was extremely painful, loud, and it didn’t pull any milk, even after 5 days. As soon as I got home I tried my Spectra and I got 4oz immediately.

My little one isn’t here yet, but we went with the spectra S1. Just wanted to share a word of warning about Aeroflow, their pricing on Spectras was CRAZY for my insurance. I wasn’t able to get the S2 covered and would have had to buy a bundle with a bunch of things I didn’t need. I ended up going through MilkMoms and got a better deal on the S1 than I could have gotten on the S2 (was $56 upgrade fee). It sucks to have to shop around but I’m so glad that I did! Hopefully your insurance covers more than ours!!

I got the spectra s2 and I havent used it yet, but I heard so many great reviews and am excited to use it. I previously had the medela with my first baby and I didn’t like it.

Same here ! Went with Spectra S2 for baby #3. Had medela with first baby and hated it!!!! Rented an Ameda hospital grade pump for my preemie second baby tho and it definitely did the job since I exclusively pumped for her

I'm using the lansinoh smart pump and I love it. Been using it for a little over 2 weeks and haven't had a problem with it yet.
