Who has gotten or is getting an epidural?

My mom had my brother without an epidural, again she waited u til she felt like she needed it, but never did. I’m hoping to do the same! Anyone not get it? How did it feel?

I was 5cm and screaming in pain when they offered it , I was terrified I wouldn't be able to sit still for the needle. I could not have done it without my fiancé. I will tell you the relief once it hit , magical.

I was induced last time and had it. It was amazing. This time I’m going to try so hard not to get it. Today is my due date so we’ll see what happens. I will say though, even with an epidural I still felt a TON of pain when her head came out.

I so badly wanted to give birth without an epidural, but I had to be induced. I truly believe I could have continued natural if it weren’t for pitocin, aka the devil, and I ended up getting an epidural. My body was not progressing naturally because of how tense I was during the pitocin contractions and I only got an epidural because I felt I was no longer coping with pain but suffering. Once I had the epidural my body finally relaxed, I slept! And they woke me up a couple hours later saying it was time to push. That being said, I’d still love to try natural someday, but if you are getting induced for any reason an epidural may make all the difference in your birth experience.

I don’t plan on it because I hear delivery and recovery goes faster if you don’t. That being said, if it ends up being something I can’t handle, I will for sure get one. So I won’t really know until the time comes I guess. But most importantly, I’m going to consult with my doctor 😊 best of luck for a safe and happy delivery!

I refuse to have one unless for some reason it’s absolutely necessary I get it. If I really need relief I’ll take some IV medication but I don’t want an epidural at all. Besides the needle in my spine (no thanks) and the risk of paralysis, permanent headaches, and other complications, I would literally go insane if I was confined to my bed.

I didn’t get it but I have a high pain tolerance. I went in for lack of movement. I was 5cms dilated. I did not feel any contractions until my water broke at 8cms and within 15 minutes of that I was pushing my baby out.

My nurse was a dumbass and didn’t check how dilated I was for hours and hours while I was dying and then finally gave me an epidural and THEN checks my cervix and I’m fucking 10 cm plus 2 which I didn’t even know was a thing. I was having intense contractions while I had my epidural cause my sons head was popping out of my vag so the needle got pushed in too far and busted a spinal fluid pocket which cause spinal headaches which is the worse headache in the world and I ended up having to get a blood patch cause I couldn’t move. Fun times lol

Yeah my back spasmed during my epidural. And nearly 6 years after having my child my back hurts a lot. So this child im going with no epidural. I wish i wouldnt have gotten the epidural with my last. Honestly my pains werent that bad, but my doctor recommended i get it, i wish i wouldnt have.
