I’m surprised by some of the other comments. He sounds like a jerk. He’s agitated for no reason but it’s “with you” and he thinks the name is “ugly”... that’s so rude and pretty childish. It isn’t honesty... it’s immaturity to communicate this way. 
Also that last part about withholding to avoid discomfort... I mean, really?

I feel like he’s playing the victim a little bit much. You having a reaction to something he did to hurt your feelings shouldn’t be justification to keep things from you. That’s manipulative. Maybe try to make an effort to be upfront about your frustrations so he knows and maybe it won’t provoke his insecurities in that regard. As for the name of a child, you both should make a compromise. Just as he wants to be respected in the process, your wishes should too. As much as possible at least.

The first thing I noticed is that he tells you he’s irritated with you but won’t tell you why he’s irritated with you; he’s an asshole in my opinion.

Yes he is okay for saying it because it's how he feel. If he was holding it in, and begin to distance himself you would feel even worst. At least now you know what you have to work with him on.

Actually I like that he’s telling you how he feels and he’s right. As a father, he really should have a say in naming his children and in moving etc. Like I’ve seen men say so much worse to their mates....cussing and name calling etc. I see women saying he’s playing the victim and calling him a man child but I don’t get that vibe personally. He sounds like a pretty reasonable and respectful guy. You could do a lot worse.
