Does Tri care cover 3D ultrasounds?

I said yes because my doctors office does 3D scans as a part of the regular ultrasound. It’s literally just a button they push on the machine. I should note that I go to a major teaching hospital, so they have a lot of technology and do extra. However, I know tricare will not cover an elective 3D ultrasound.

No they don’t. If you look at the Tricare coverage website, they say no because they are medically necessary.

I had tricare with my son i dont know if the year 2013 makes a difference but they covered it as if it were a regular ultrasound

I don’t think so, but when I went to my anatomy scan she was really sweet and had extra time so she asked if I wanted to try out a new piece of equipment they had that allowed us to see the baby in 3D so she plugged it in and did it for me.
