My son has pneumonia! 🤒😢

💕m

I worked all weekend long and when I got off on Monday I picked up my son and he was just having his normal cough that he had since Thursday night and I had asked both babysitters what his cough was like and they just said not a bad one and even my fiancé who had him all day Sunday also said he just had a cough but not as bad so yesterday evening he starts developing this barking cough and it gets really bad to where he cannot eat solids and can only drink his bottle but barely so I gave him cough medicine and I’m alternating between Tylenol and ibuprofen. He wakes up about every couple hours because of his cough since it makes him really bad in pain and honestly I thought it was croup cough. I get him ready and we go to the hospital and we get x-ray on his chest done And they check his throat and they said it looked good and they checked both his ears and said that his right ear has infection then she leaves to go look at the x-ray results, after about 25 minutes she comes back in and she says the worst thing “he has a touch of pneumonia”. I wasn’t freaking out but a lot of things were going through my mind because I knew how deadly it could become and she just reassured me that I did the right thing by taking him to the hospital as soon as I did so it did not progress into something worse. Unfortunately my fiancé did not take it well since his niece died of pneumonia at only 7 months old about five years ago and it was so sad because she had gone to the doctors 5 days prior to her death and they said everything was fine and she was just a happy, calm baby and then that was taken away exactly 5 days later. But I reassured him that there was no fluid in his lungs and that we got there as soon as we could and that this will clear up after five days since he only has to take antibiotic‘s once a day for 5 days. First I was debating on if I should take him to the hospital or not because I had a feeling that they were just going to tell me that he has a really bad cough and cold and just to give him cough medicine and some baby Tylenol or Ibuprofen and just be on my way but now I am so glad that I never second-guessed myself and I just took him as soon as I did because I don’t know what would have happened if I waited several days, maybe it would’ve got so bad or maybe it could have resulted in his death just like my fiancé‘s niece did unfortunately. I just pray that my baby gets better and that he can get out of this pain hopefully after a few days of taking the antibiotics, I just wish I could just take this pain away from him right now. But mommas if you ever feel that there’s something off with your child or you feel that they are sick enough that you need to take them to the hospital, please please do not second-guess yourself and just take them in. It is always better to be safe than sorry! Even if your child seems to be in a little bit of pain and they have a little cough with a runny nose but let’s say they have no fever or they’re still somewhat of a happy baby but you’re not sure what to do, just take them in because there is always a reason if you have to question yourself! I’m just praying for my child at this moment to get better and get rid of this pneumonia ❤️
