How did you first find out/suspect Endo?

Question

My mom and my sister both have endo and I suspect I might as well (which could be causing my fertility issues). What led you to seeking medical attention?

I used to have really heavy periods when I was younger and that’s why I started on the pill. Later in life I went off the pill when TTC. After seeing a fertility specialist, she said I had unexplained infertility. We were starting a round of IUI but never went through with it because they found a 10 cm cyst. I got it removed a year ago and have a one month old baby boy!

I’m not 100% sure if I have it yet but for me it was back/pelvic pain and having 2 ectopic pregnancies. Also all of the sudden my periods got really light. I find out in March 13th.

I had all the symptoms of IBS, nausea, bloating, gas, constipation,diarrhea plus pelvic pain that interrupted my day life, pain/ discomfort during sex, ovarian cysts. I had been in and out of the ED for a year and a half before I convinced my OB to do the surgery.

In high school I started having really painful periods and kept getting sick and having to leave school so I knew something wasn’t right. I finally got my family doctor to refer me to a obgyn. I had tried multiple things the obgyn wanted me to try and nothing helped so he asked would I be willing to have a exploratory surgery to figure out the problem. I had the surgery and that’s when I was diagnosed with stage 3 Endo!

Months of terrible pain. Lots of ovarian cysts. I had two cysts removed (one the size of a grapefruit) and with both surgeries my idiot doctors missed it. Finally got my current obgyn who finally believed me and how much pain I was in when everyone else dismissed me. She found endometriosis everywhere. Stage 4. I can't believe it was missed so many times!

The main sign to my doctors was severe pain at night or later in the day as well as bloating and bleeding on-top of my IUD

I found out yesterday. In Nov 2018, after ttc for nearly a year my husband and I had a feeling something wasn’t quite right. We sought help from an RE and did some testing. Initially we thought everything had come back normal (ultrasound to check my ovaries and follicles, blood work to test hormones, HSG, and my husband’s semen analysis). In the initial ultrasound to check my ovaries and follicles (back in Nov), the doc mentioned that it looked like I had a small cyst on my left ovary but it could be that I had ovulated from that side that month and he wasn’t too concerned. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Fast forward to this cycle (I’m on cycle day 3 today), we decided to move forward with a cycle of IUI. At yesterday’s baseline ultrasound, the doc finds the same cyst on the  left ovary and it’s the same size. He tells me he can now confirm it’s an endometrial cyst and therefore I have at least a moderate form of endometriosis and that is what has made it difficult for us to conceive. I think we’re still trying to take it all in. 😔
