Yes, even the early result tests clearly state that they aren’t 99% accurate until the day your period is due. Their accuracy is as low as 50% or so 5 days before your period.
In order to get an accurate result you should wait at least until your period is due or 14dpo. Implantation can happen anywhere from 6-12dpo and it takes 2-4 days after implantation for the hcg to increase enough to be detected on any pregnancy test.

I've never gotten a positive until the day my AF was due and even then was SUPER faint
