Giving medicine in bottle?

My 5 month old just will not take his cough medicine. He spits it all all over the place. I don't know exactly how much he actually swallows, so I'm not gonna be giving it to him over and over again. Is it OK to give him his medicine in his formula? Ftm here.

My daughter hates medicine so I personally never wanted to put it in her bottle because I was worried she would start refusing the bottles. 
The thing that works best for her is to hold her in a cradle position and with that hand, I hold her arms out of the way and with my free hand I use the syringe and put the medicine as far pack in her cheek as possible so she isn’t able to push it out with her tongue. Then I nurse her right after to get the medicine taste out of her mouth.

They have a dropper that looks like a pacifier. That they suck. You can also mix it with juice. One daughter of mine refused every trick i had. When it was something important like antibiotics i had to hold her nose. That was my last resort.
