Anybody ever deferred payments ?

Anybody with multiple children, while you’ve been on Maternity leave.. obviously money is tight and we are saving everything we can.. but has anyone deferred payments before just while you were out ? I’m contemplating calling and asking if we can defer hubbys truck payments (around $500 a month) just while I’m out of work so we have room for the rest of our bills and groceries .. has it worked out easily for you? Thanks for the help

I’ve deferred my payments a few times. They just take your loan and push it out a month. My credit union allows me to defer 3 payments in a 12mo time frame

It may be easier to take out a small personal loan to help with the costs while you’re out of work.  I’d assume they’d want all the missed payments at once anyway when you resume work, but it’s really up to them what kind of arrangement they’ll accept. You can always ask about this, but it’s not guaranteed, and typically only done for a month or two at most.

My car payment is $336 a month with $90 in insurance. I think deferring them would put you in hole you might not be able to get out of. You could take out a loan but that’s risky too.
