Has anyone applied for WIC?

SO & I were talking about this last night & was wondering if anyone has applied & what was your experience with WIC?

I’m on WIC myself. I was on it when I was pregnant with my son and all I had to do was bring my ID and also if you have any bills in your name if you could bring that and pay stubs that are in your household and they will go off of your income but if you have government assistance already like food stamps or a Medicaid card then you automatically qualify but they still need a paystub if anybody works in your household. Although me and my fiancé are not married but we still live together and he is the father to my child and now we both work so we would have not qualified for the income part but since I still qualify for Medicaid through the government, I still qualify for WIC. Then once the baby is born you will have to bring the baby to every appointment and the first time that you do bring the baby to the appointment they will ask for their shot record. And as long as you still qualify for WIC, you can get it until your child is five years old and also if you become pregnant again and have another child.

I just applied last month and it’s been so far so good. You do have to apply for it, like anything else. You also will have to go in for what seemed like an interview. It is income restricted so you’ll have to provide pay stubs for them to determine whether or not you’re eligible. If you do get approved, you’ll also have to provide them with a signed proof of pregnancy from your dr that had your official due date on it. Once I did all of this they gave me 3 months worth of vouchers.

I was on it with my first. I ended up only being able to breastfeed her for the first 3 month and then I dried up... It really helped with the cost of formula!!

Yes. What’s your monthly income? Are you married? A lot of that plays into getting approved. 
My twins will be 3 and I have been in WIC since I was pregnant. The formula in the beginning was so helpful for my twins. Now the fruits, veggies, milk, and juice is so worth it. My kids will be on it until they are 5.

I had it with my first and again with this one. It’s a wonderful resource. It’s helped a ton with formula and baby food for us.

They will need proof of income (unless you have Medicaid then you immediately qualify) ... it was helpful to me, my son was in the NICU & they loaned me a hospital grade pump until a month after he was sent home. I’m a couponer so it worked really well with getting sales (Cheerios Buy one get one free, WIC allowed 2 so I was able to get 4, same with juice etc.) 
I’m kinda sad I don’t qualify this time lol because who doesn’t love free stuff.

They go based off income and household size. The ladies here at our WIC are super nice and have helped me through all 4 and soon to be 5 babies. Like as far as their food packages, breastfeeding help, and formula if you go that route. It's an amazing program! They are there to help and they do it awesomely.
