Probably a stupid question 😬but.... coloring?

Question

How do you color with a 1 year old (12 months) I’ve seen a few things saying this is a good time to start that , but I just can’t picture how that would work 🤷🏻‍♀️. 
What did you use, markers, crayons, something special?
Where do you do it, high chair , floor? 
How do you keep it confined?

High chair good and wax crayons or even finger painting is great.. I used to put a dummy in my boys mouth, when we done finger painting just so didn’t paint in there mouth.. but most children paint is non toxic anyways..

Also, a bit off topic but look on Pinterest! They have lots of neat ideas/activities for them to do. Most of its really inexpensive too because they’re easily amazed with everything 😊

We had those special Crayola wonder markers that only color on their specific books. At about 2, we got our son fat crayons.

I always used crayons and put my son in his high chair, crayons make it kinda hard to color on most surfaces so its easy to wipe off the plastic tray.

We found special books that ‘paint’ only using water but it makes a colorful picture.  Might have been Melissa and Doug brand?  PERFECT to let the little ones get control of using a utensil without making a huge mess... just water!

I worked in a daycare and a couple of our kids were one (majority was two). We would put them at their little table, give them crayons and paper and they’d color it. We also sat with them so that decreased the chances of them marking up the walls and table.

It's coloring. It's not a big complicated task. I hand my kid some crayons and some coloring books/paper and voila. She colors on the floor, at a table, in her high chair, etc. And I'm not sure what you mean by keeping it "confined". Again, it's a pretty basic task. I've never thought of having to keep it confined. She just sits there and colors. Again, super simple. Don't overthink this.

I started at that age with bath crayons. He had a blast and it was easy clean up. If we went to a restaurant we’d color while we waited.

Mine learned with regular crayons on the floor, he joined the older kids in daycare while they were doing it. He’d have everything on the floor and lay on his belly kicking his feet in the air coloring away, it was the cutest thing.
