Glass baby bottles?

So my daughter has been using doctor browns baby bottles since she was born. But recently her bottles smell like old formula and soap 😖 No matted how much I wash and scrub and they’re a little discolored and foggy.... I’m over it and hate giving the bottle to my baby without feeling like it’s 100% clean or there’s soap residue. I bought glass bottles today and so far so good but to replace ALL her bottles with glass would be insanely expensive. My question is, could I just repurchase some more plastic bottles or is glass just the better way to go? Any advice welcomed

They could be foggy for multiple possible reasons. If they're introduced to high heat at all, like in a dishwasher, microwave, boiling water, etc, then the heat ruins the plastic over time. Plastic bottles in general are usually at least somewhat porous so milk proteins and fat easily settle into the bottle and slowly build up, which can cause the foggy color and old milk smell. I've heard of cleaning mixtures that help get rid of that, but I just don't trust fixing it that way myself since I have no way of knowing that there aren't any milk remains in the plastic that could make the baby sick.
I highly recommend glass bottles. I bought a 3-pack of the Avent natural glass ones and wish I had done so in the first place before going through some plastic ones, especially now that I'm expecting baby #2. Plastic was a waste. I like to hand wash in steaming hot water and even that is just not good for the lifespan of plastic bottles. Especially recommend getting a few if there's any chance you'll have more kids. Unless you buy a ton of them or don't replace plastic ones when you should, you're likely to spend less on the glass than multiple rounds of plastic ones. Plastic ones don't have any resale value. Might as well give them away for free when you're all done. Glass ones are great to reuse, give to a friend or family that could use it, or sell when you're done. Just disturbing for me when I realised a plastic bottle was starting to have a very faint smell and fogginess. I felt terrible for having just let my little one drink out of something that I wouldn't myself.

We used Playtex baby with our daughter and not once did they ever smell like old formula and/or soap 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'd continue to use plastic. It's not even a competition to me. I've worked with children for 10+ years now. Most of those years being with infants and toddlers. I HAVE seen glass bottles break and in addition to that, they become very hot as well if you warm them up. Also, if your child goes to daycare or will be in the future, many daycares won't accept glass bottles for the same reasons I just mentioned. So I'd look into other plastic bottle options.

I have silicone bottles and they are amazing, glass just scares me too much even though I’ve heard amazing things about glass bottles.

Do you soak and sanitize her bottles? Do you immediately fill them with hot soapy water after a feed?
