Second trimester and still haven’t heard the heartbeat. ☹️
Everywhere I’ve read says that from 8 weeks on you should be able to hear the baby’s heartbeat at an ultrasound appointment and also at your prenatal visits. I had my first vaginal ultrasound appointment at 10 weeks (had to be vaginal due to a tilted uterus), and the baby was healthy, and she showed me the heartbeat on the screen but said we couldn’t listen to it yet.
I’ve since had prenatal appointments at 11 and 13 weeks, where my midwife has used multiple fetal dopplers and spent nearly ten minutes each time trying to find the heartbeat but to no avail. She’s told me not to worry, that it could have to do with my uterus not being in the right spot yet, but I just really felt by 13 weeks I should have heard it by now. Has anyone else had this same issue? Would it have to do with the tilted uterus?
Update: thank you for the judgy comments on my choice to have a midwife, I really appreciate it!! But that’s not what this post is about. I’m just hoping to find other women who have experienced this and would be willing to share their experiences.
