Can anyone explain IUI steps?

Dr says we’re doing clomid and IUI DH SA 15% motility but everything else normal. I’m starting clomid 50 my today CD 3-7. Then we do bloodwork CD 11? Why? Then she said something about a trigger shot?! I’m so confused I’m going to ask her on Monday but I didn’t know if anyone had any experience/insight ??

I had blood work done before every appointment that they checked follicles. They’re checking estrogen, I believe. My RE would compare my estrogen to what they saw on the ultrasound so they had a better idea of how many follicles were actually mature

Usually around cd 9 they will begin monitoring you, they have you come in for an ultrasound to check follicle numbers and sizes and then bloodwork to check hormone levels. They want to make sure your levels are increasing. Once your follicles reach between 18-22 they are considered mature. (Only mature eggs release eggs and generally only one or two follicles will become dominate and grow larger then the others) Around then they will have you trigger (approx 36 hours before iui) the trigger forces your brain to make you ovulate (release mature follicles which willl release the egg) They want to time ovulation with iui... once egg releases it survives up to 24 hours only so timing is key.  A week later they have you come in to check progesterone levels. Your body needs healthy progesterone levels to sustain a pregnancy. If your levels are low they will have you take a progesterone vaginal supplement. Implantation can happen anywhere from 4-12 days past ovulation. A week after progesterone check they will have you come in for bloodwork to check hcg levels and give you a pregnancy tesT. This will either confirm pregnancy or close out your iui cycle.  I am sure every office does this differently but this is how my RE does iui cycles. Good luck!!
Also- has your husband gotten an SA? They usually said to abstain from sex the day before iui and with low sperm count to abstain for up to three days! Good luck!!

The trigger shot is to trigger ovulation (ovulation occurs approx 36 hours after the shot). Not sure about the blood work as we are on Gonal F and follicle tracking with ultrasounds. I had a scan day 3, day 10 and tomorrow (Day 12) x
