I’m getting my IUD replaced in a couple weeks, which one do y’all think I should get?

Briley

I’ve had the Paragard for going on three months now, but it shifted down during my last period so I’ve gotta yet it replaced. I was initially opposed to the Mirena bc I had a bad experience with hormonal birth control while I was on the pill (it made me super emotional/depressed), but the doctor says that the Mirena may not have the same effect on me bc the hormones aren’t in my bloodstream as much. What do y’all think?

I’ve had both. I had the paraguard for almost 10 years before my first kid and I’ve had the mirena since after he was born about a year and a half ago.I never had any negative symptoms with either. But I did notice that after year 7 with the paraguard my periods got longer and longer. Not heavier but more days. With the mirena I’ve loved not having my period! The hormones in the mirena have never given me any issue.

I've had both and was skeptical about getting Mirena because of the same thing, depression. But, honestly the Mirena is nice. The hormones in it is just Progestin. So it doesn't make you depressed it might actually help with any PMS blues you might get. Idk. Just speaking from my own experience.

I love my mirena. I only had 2 weeks of bad cramps and my periods stopped after month 4 I love it. I had paragard before but my periods naturally are heavy and it made them worse so I switched to mirena. Otherwise I would have kept paragard.

Mirena is a little bit smaller. You could always give it a try.

If you have a light or medium flow you'll do ok on paragard but mirena can stop periods
