Iud do’s and dont’s?

Ok ladies I just recently got my iud inserted (2/27) and I was wondering what can I do and not do afterwards? I have never had one before so I’m new to everything. I excersize daily and do I need to wait so long before I start back up again? Also I tan every so often is tanning in a tanning bed ok after it is inserted? I don’t want to mess it up or have to go back to get it adjusted or removed and replaced. Any help and advice would be great! ❤️

Don't put anything in your vagina for the first week, including tampons, your finger, or having sex. And just wait it out while you adjust.

Nothing in the vagina for the first 24 hours, use backup protection for a week if you aren’t on your period during insertion, expect frequent bleeding and cramping during the first month or three. Read your information packet that your gyno should’ve given you. If you don’t have one, go on the official website for your specific iud.

Dont put a tampon or anything else up there for the first 21 days because that's when you're at highest risk for an infection like PID and using a tampon could make that risk higher. Not sure about tanning beds. You should be ok exercising although the first 2 months I had it intense exercising caused me more cramps. If you have the hormonal IUD wait 7 full days before having sex but with the copper IUD you're protected right away.
