FTM 18+5 Manual Cervix Check

Hey all!

I had a last minute appointment with the nurse practitioner at my OBs office today, because I was having some sharp stabbing pains in my vaginal area. She did a swab of my vagina and manually checked my cervix (it was closed. “Oh yeah, that’s definitely closed” were her exact words). After she finished, I asked her if I should be concerned about spotting as a result of the cervical check, and she said “It shouldn’t. Your cervix didn’t look like it was going to bleed.” After I left the office, my anxiety set in of course, and I googled (huge mistake), and found manual cervical checks this early can cause contractions or preterm labor (?!?!?). Sorry for the long post, but I guess I’m looking for reassurance/peace of mind. Has anyone had their cervix manually checked this early (18 weeks) and not had an issue? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

(I posted this on my July 2019 WTE board too, so if you’re on there also, you might be seeing double)
