HSG Complications

Danielle

I finally bit the bullet and had my HSG done today. I took ibuprofen an hour beforehand as told, and they explained everything to me along the way. It was uncomfortable and I had very minor cramping during. But overall, done in a couple minutes.

I was surprised and proud of myself, bc I was sooo nervous and terrified of the pain that could happen.

I stick around for bloodwork that my Dr had also ordered for me. No biggie there either.

I got home, ate lunch, and within 2 hours after the procedure I’m on the verge of calling 911.

The cramps are starting in my pelvic area as they do during my period, but they are EXTREME! I immediately took 4 more ibuprofen (800 mgs). The pain in my stomach knocked me to floor, I can barely breathe, I couldn’t stand or walk and no position was helping.

This goes on for 3 hours!! I’m sobbing, rolling around, and gasping for air bc I’m completely losing it now. (Yes, I believe I put myself into a panic attack)

I’m now on hour 6... 6 hours of the worst pain. It’s a tiny bit better now. I’m breathing somewhat normally, except for the occasional gasps when a shot of pain rips through my chest. Yes, now in my chest.

The severe pain has moving upward over the last 6 hours. When it was in my mid section of my stomach, that was the worst. Now in my lower chest, with pain in my shoulders and neck.

My mother in law came over (she’s a nurse), and she believes it’s all the air that comes in during the procedure. All that access air has caused sever pressure and pain, and as it’s trying to escape my body it’s moving upward.

Anyone else experience this?? If so, what helped??
