Do you allow popularity sway you from using a name?

If a name you like or have loved forever suddenly became trendy, would you or did you still use it?
Do you like the fact it is popular change your mind on a picked name?

I just don’t want my child to have 3 other kids in his/her class with the same name. I like names that aren’t trendy but, not made up or unpopular. My son is an Evan. Our daughter will be Elliott Rosalie. I really wanted to name her Charlotte but my husband gave me a firm no lol.

Everyone seems so worried about their kid knowing other people with the same name.  I grew up with lots of kids with the same name, Megan was a very popular name the year I was born.  It had absolutely no negative impact on my life.  Don’t worry about where it is on the top 100 list. Just pick a name you like.

I've loved Jackson forever and its very trendy right now. And we are going with a trendy spelling of Jaxson because its the only thing my husband likes. 🤷‍♀️ I never thought I'd name my kid something trendy (I always loved old fashioned names). But here we are lol

My husband and I started trying as soon as we were married. I found the name Asher and LOVED it and I’d never heard it before that. That was almost four years ago. It took us two years and by then, I was hearing Asher a lot. We had a few boy names picked but I still loved it. We waited until he was born to see what he looked like and my husband and I agreed that he looked like an Asher so we stuck with it. Before that I had loved the name Liam but it became too popular so I ditched it. I guess it just depends HOW MUCH you love the name 🤷🏼‍♀️

I just pick what I like. I dont think popularity matters. The only thing i try to avoid is changing the spelling from the most common form. I dont need to add/change letters for my son or daughter to be unique.

Nopes don’t care. When we found my sons name it just fit and to this day it fits him. I can’t imagine us naming him something else because it was less popular. Baby number twos name is less popular but that was just coincidence.

Nope! My daughter and, soon to be born, son both have super popular names (in the top 10) and I don't care one bit. My husband and I both loved the names and a million other people naming their kids the same thing didnt bother us. As someone who grew up with a super unpopular name, I didnt want my kids having the issues I had. I'm glad people can pronounce and spell their names correctly. And that we can find souvenirs when we go on vacation 🤷‍♀️

Yes, my husband and I loved the name Everly, we thought it sounded very traditional but unique and love the Everly Brothers, but then we realized it was super trendy, celeb/hipster baby name (with an alternative - Leigh spelling no less) and I told him we couldn't, but we loved it so much I'm going to keep it on the list for future babies if I can get past the trendy aspect.
FYI, I only nixed because it's trendy, not because it's popular, like I like Emma and Amy etc just names that didn't really exist previously and have shot to popularity turn me off.
