Vaporizer / humidifier ? ?? Please help ?

This is probably the dumbest question but I honestly need to ask someone , so the new house we live in occasionally leaves our throats dry. We recently had to purchase a vaporizer for the cold season however I’m thinking maybe I do need to buy one for when our new born comes. We do have a toddler.(20months) however is a vaporizer the same as a humidifier? Or is this something completely different I’m so confused and feel SO DUMB even asking 😩 #34weeks pregnant mom brain
