Induction gets scheduled as I’m 40+5 days past baby.... this birth story is in notes form as I picked up my phone and added to it through the entire process. Some unique things happened so message me if you have questions.

Got induced due to GD.

Planned to arrive 10pm 3/3/19 for my induction.

8 miles into 12 mile drive From NJ to PA - wipers die in sleet storm - Drive back home no wipers AHHH

Swap cars - leave again 10:12 but I drive this time because my car is stick and BF can’t drive it .

Arrive at parking garage 10:36 in Philly

First nurse Emily took forever to get us set up - she failed to do IV lock twice and bruised me up - not till 1am were we settled they put me on pitocin then just before 2am and I watched Boston legal and passed out.

No other induction method used at first - we discussed others but they thought I was soft enough to do only drip.

around 6 am they woke me since no contractions to check cervix - still cervix a one so they put in balloon - easy to put in but then period like cramps started

Since about 7am I’ve had contractions with back pain - It’s very much like period without the endo pain but this back stuff hurts a bit

Mike figures out how to turn sofa into a makeshift bed removing the back and opening it flat - nurse seemed shocked it did that but he hasn’t slept much either

At 8:15am I decided I need epidural - the pain in back right hip hurts and is making it too hard to breathe through contractions. I was going to go natural - nope.

Got epidural and it’s nice ! Nurses had to wake up mike he was fast asleep to get him to move out of way.

Groggy now - only 3 hrs and 4in into laboring and contractions are about 3-4min apart - sleep

11:15am water broke on its own - he pooped inside me - I sleep

12:10 oxygen and baby heart rate fluctuating so changing positions. His heart rate drops to 50 during contractions. - I sleep on left which helps baby.

12:56 measuring 4-5 baby heart rate dips from contractions - remove ballon - sleep

1:25pm got fluid in uterus and monitor internally trying to cushion baby with water and stop heart rate drops - 5cm - sleep

Sleep a lot

Transactions 1 min apart cut pitocin in half

5pm 9cm and 100% - sleep still on left

7pm nurses and doctors shift change. family comes (grand parents and baby’s 11 year old half sister because half sister is leaving for 3 day school trip and was freaking out she didn’t see me) - I raised her and she lives with me.

8pm 3/4/19 we do practice pushes as i am 10 and 100% - and just sitting around

New doctor doesn’t like the irregular heart rate decides emergency C Section and kicks everyone out of room. He also kicked out another scheduled C section because he couldn’t wait and needed my baby out- we asked why the other doctors were fine waiting and he could only say using his experience and knowledge he needed to do what he thought was best for baby. I get violently ill throwing up and I’m shaking cold. They say this was good signs before now it’s bad because I’m about to go in surgery.

We go into OR.

I get a dose of new stronger epidural and lie down- boyfriend comes in and everything happens very fast but very painless at this point.

Baby comes out good I hear his cries and cry myself. i did the entire thing with my eyes closed visualizing my baby and holding him to stop my body from shaking . Boyfriend was freaked out I wasn’t talking or moving but it’s all I could do to stop shaking.

I hear baby has a cone head and was stuck - all my endo scars and old LEEP scars would have stopped him from coming vaginally anyway so this C section was right thing to do.

The dad goes to be with baby and I hear doctors having trouble with my blood and bleeding. They have to give me several rounds of clot meds. Then pain starts sneaking through epidural. They apparently took my uterus and organs out cause baby was stuck and couldn’t get them back in. Boyfriend says they were like punching my organs ( he watched without permission )

Pain got bad so they pumped me full of pain meds until I about passed out.

9pm baby 8lbs 3oz 20 inches

I approved a bottle for baby since I couldn’t open my eyes or touch him and fell asleep.

No skin to skin at this point as I wasn’t capable of holding him so we went into recovery and his big half sister and grandparents held him while I watched half asleep. We FaceTime the aunts and uncles while I’m still out of it.

10pm family leaves - they take my car because my father in law can drive stick ( remember I drove due to broken wipers in other car) and they leave my now fixed boyfriends car. $300 for repair :( but I forgot our car seat and baby bag are in that car so they will bring it back tomorrow.

Boyfriend begins to limp has gout pain- I suggest he goes to ER but doesn’t.

11pm we try skin to skin and latching - no go - we get transferred to new room and get made fun of for all our Blankets and pillows as a “first time mom”. Ladies on the app- we have over packed.

2am we try again in new room for skin to skin and latch- between C section and groggy feeling we pulled off one breast for 20 min!!! Nurse just shoved his little face on there. We had our bonding time and I passed out again from residual pain from meds.

Overnight they did a lot of sugar tests on him and he needed to be bottle fed one more from dad and under a heat lamp but he’s doing well.

I haven’t walked yet and the Boyfriend now can’t walk so nurse has to help us with a lot- boyfriend is going to ER in later AM. I am planned to walks at 9am so resting in between baby tests.

He’s getting his Hep B shot and a bath. He will be circumcised By day 3.

6am - 3/5/19 now starts my journey as a new mom!
