Does anyone pump and try to occasionally breastfeed?

It's been 3 weeks since we tried breastfeeding but I decided to give it a go today. It didn't go too badly but the first few times didn't hurt last time either. Baby seems to have forgotten how to open wide and latch and he kept pulling off and moving around. Apparently I have a very strong let down because we both got soaked with milk! He nursed on and off about 15 minutes. I know he got a good amount cause I pumped afterwards and barely got anything!

Any advice or tips on how to retrain little one? I was thinking of maybe trying it once a day to see how it all goes. But I don't know what's realistic.

I used to try at every feeding until I couldn't handle it anymore (screaming instead of feeding). Every once in a while she'd get a real feeding in, but finally I decided I'd be a better mom if I just pumped. So all that to say, try it as often as you like until you don't want to anymore. No rules except ditch whatever stresses you out!

I do both only because when I pump I get like 3 0z max and he drinks at least 4 a meal now so I guess he gets more out of me guttered as I wanted to just pump 
I'm going to try mothers milk tea and ferugreek to see if that helps incresse supply.baby is 4 weeks I went off breast feeding for 5 days as he had a chest infection and was struggling to get milk without getting exhausted he latched on fine after first few goes and seems to have hang of it again

My LO can latch fine, but isn't sucking effectively. He gets milk, just really slowly (like half an ounce in 30 minutes).  I BF him once in the morning for 15 minutes on each side in hopes that he will get the hang of it eventually. The rest of the day, I pump and bottle feed. I wish I could BF more, but this is what works for us right now and keeps my sanity. Maybe try once per day to see if it helps thing improve.

i do. but only on his terms. we both have to be calm and quiet, skin to skin. patience. they have natural instincts so just stop to watch and listen to him

I was persistent & got threw the rough times trying to get him to feed. He now has a shallow latch... But he eats fine from the breast. My persistence paid off. I still pump 4/5 times a day to keep my supply up & I'm obsessed with building my freezer stash..
