They shove their fingers up your vagina and to your cervix. Honestly, you don’t need to be checked if you don’t want to. Even if you’re at a 3, labor could be weeks off

They insert 2 fingers into your vagina and see how many fingers dilated you are. 1 finger is usually 1 cm, and so on. It can be uncomfortable if your cervix is high/tilted. But most people experience no pain.

They shove two of their fingers up into your cervix and kind of feel around and it depends on who does it how bad it will hurt but no matter what it will be very uncomfortable and you will be sore after it but it goes pretty quickly they’re in there maybe 20 seconds then they’re out

They check with their fingers. If you're uncomfortable with it, you don't have to get it done. It doesn't tell anything really.
I know I wouldn't get it done.
