How does getting an epidural feel?

Question

What if I have a strong contraction while they put it? It’s my first time tomorrow so I don’t know what to expect

If your in so much pain your asking for an epidural, the pain from the epidural wont even faze you. I honestly didnt feel anything. Even after seeing what the needle looked like.

The worst part of the epidural was getting the tape off. My fear was getting a fraction as well but my nurse walked walked and helped me breath through it

I didn’t feel a thing. They walked me through the whole process. I do not like needles and to me this was less painful than a quick poke to draw blood. Soon after getting epidural my lower body started to feel numb but I was able to wiggle my toes. Definitely took the edge off from painful abs frequent contraction and I was able to rest before I was ready to push

Honestly no pain compared to the contractions. The worst part was them tearing the tape off my back after I delivered lol if you have a contraction they’ll probably just have you breathe through it because they can’t stop. At least that’s what they did with me

They do it while youre contracting to get your mind off the needle lol. It feels like a pinch at first but once the meds go in its all good and you get to sleep. Youll just feel pressure from contractions

I didn’t even feel the needle going in nor did I see it. They had me on the side of the bed and leaning forward with my feet on my husbands lap while he was in a chair. Waited for a contraction and did it immediately after.

They numb it all the way in. Most you'll feel is pressure. They usually always walk me through mine even though this will be my 4th coming up. Then they tape up your back with an ungodly amount of tape lol.

I get mine around 5cm dilated. I’ve always been asked once my contraction stops they start. They numb the area. Most you feel is pressure and can sting a bit. I felt them putting the epidural in my back but nothing to bad. When they give you a quick dose it can feel like they send electricity through your leg (My right leg jolted). Honestly I hate needles a lot and what got me through getting all four of mine was the fact giving birth was less painful.

I had mine just on Sunday. When contractions started they were already 3 mins apart. My husband was driving going “you’re having ANOTHER contraction?!? Is this baby being born in the car???” Lol. Anyway, by the time the anesthesiologist got there, the contractions were a min apart! He was great tho, I’d start screaming “contraction” he would stop, Id yell GO and he continued. The pain from the epidural placement was nothing compared to the contractions. You’ll do great!

I had one yesterday. They talk you through everything and let the contraction pass before they start. however, my contractions were back to back, so I just had to sit there as still as I could. I needed that epidural asap so I did what was needed to be done. I had my husband stand in front of me so that I could lean into him.
