Scared Virgin

So I'm 17, and a virgin when it comes to everything. Never even held hands with a boy romantically. Is it odd that when I talk to a guy I like I get really scared to do anything romantic or sexual with him? In my head it's a whole different story. I feel comfortable and excited in my head, but in real life it's absolutely terrifying. Did anyone else feel this way? What can I do to help my fear or whatever it is?
