Do they always deliver early if you have gestational diabetes?

I took very good care of myself during my pregnancy with GD and never required meds so my doctor let me go a few days past my due date. I was induced eventually to not risk it too much since GD can deteriorate the placenta. However, she did mention if I would’ve have bad readings than she would have 1-2 weeks early.

I was induced at 38+4 with my first. This one I have a scheduled c section at 39 weeks. I also have a friend who had it and they didn't induced her until 41 weeks!! It all depends on your numbers and if you need meds or not.

I don’t have personal experience but at work the majority of L&D charts I see with diabetes get induced at 39 weeks. A family friend had gestational diabetes and was induced at 37 weeks but that was more for her hypertension than the diabetes.

My SIL delivered at 32 weeks with her baby girl and she had GD that turned into full blown Diabetes, but I guess it depends on the circumstances.

I think it depends on how well you’re managing your GB. I got induced with my baby at 39 weeks because I was gaining weight like crazy. I couldn’t get it under control so they induced me. I have a friend though, who manages her GB very well and they are letting her go naturally.

I've heard they won't let you go passed your due date. But that could just be my ob offices preference.

I was 38 weeks and 4 days. My water broke on it's own and my son was 6lbs. I told them I refused to be induced and to let things happen (I was very small, gained 11lbs total). It depends on the individual.
