You are going to need a proper maternity pad. Something a lot bigger than those!!!

Neither. I ended up hating the depends type underwear. I used the mesh panties with giant pads initially when the bleeding was heaviest then switched to super absorbent regular pads and granny panties as it started to lighten up some. I just couldn’t get comfortable in depends. It sounds like a great idea but didn’t work for me.

The hospital will give you the mesh undies and giant pads you need to get by for like the first week. After that i just use my maternity underwear with the heaviest duty period pads you can find and it works just fine.
