Visitor to get TDAP?

Hi, my doctor’s office is closed at the moment. I was wondering if I should have my child’s grandmother who will be staying with us for 10 days after the baby is born get a TDAP??

If she is not up to date then yes.

I’d ask her to get it. Anyone who will be in close proximity should be up to date on all vaccines. It’s your decision as a parent to say they cannot come if they aren’t up to date. Yes some of your immunity will be passed on but it’s not really clear how much of it so it would be best for everyone to be up to date.

I told everyone in my family that if they planned on seeing the baby before 8 weeks, then they better be up to date. My dad’s gf fought it, but I was like sucks for you if you don’t bc you won’t see your granddaughter for 2 months. She eventually got it...  make sure grandma is up to date. Don’t solely rely on you passing immunity down. Need the herd immunity

I don’t think I’d feel comfortable asking anyone to get vaccinated for anything in order to see me baby, especially elderly people, but I’d definitely bring it up and stress how important it is for the health of your child.

I asked my parents to be sure they are up to date since they will be staying with us when we come home and visiting often.

As long as you get it you will pass immunity onto the baby, nobody else needs to get it
