Mother in laws

I never had a problem with my mother in law until I became a mother. She always has something to say about my daughter and whether or not she’s being taken care of right. There was a time she even publicly mommy shamed me. I always stay calm and laugh it off because that’s my husbands mom but I’m so tired of her.

Recently we got into a argument because her smallest son (12yrs old) was talking bad about my little brother (12yrs) and I told him to stop because it’s my brother but he decided to get disrespectful with me. Then my husband gets in it defending me so his little brother gets disrespectful with him too. His mom wasn’t home when this all happened so the next day we go to have a conversation with her and she completely defended her son (12yr old). My husband told her to discipline him the way she disciplined my husband but her excuse was “she has no energy for that anymore”.

I completely stopped talking to his family because she doesn’t raise her kids right but yet if my daughter doesn’t have a onesie under her pjs I get to be shamed in front of strangers. What should I do?
